New research from OVO shows that almost two thirds (65%) of people would switch to an electric vehicle, with 52% citing the perceived high running costs as the main barrier to making the switch, 50% worried about a lack of access to a chargepoint when needed, and 48% citing high upfront costs.

New OVO data shows heat pumps are paving the way to fossil fuel free homes powered by cleaner, greener electricity. OVO’s data shows that those who have adopted a heat pump saw their gas consumption drop significantly - in some cases eliminating gas emissions altogether.

Nearly 81% of homeowners in the UK want to upgrade their homes to make them more energy efficient so they save money on bills, but 75% say it’s too costly and 45% say they don’t know what to do.

With the cost of living remaining high and environmental concerns looming, nearly 70% of people are looking to change the way they use energy in their homes to reduce their bills and minimise their impact on the planet.

A combination of factors, including warmer weather and economic uncertainties, are prompting people to exercise caution before cranking up the thermostat.

OVO’s 2024 Great British Energy Report highlights a huge growth in interest around home energy technology such as electric vehicle (EV) chargers, heat pumps and insulation.

EVs top the list, with a tenfold rise in customer interest in EV chargers in the last four years, and account for 40% of all customer queries in the last 12 months.
